This design explores the cultural essence of "mudik" (homecoming) during Eid al-Fitr, where millions return home to celebrate with family. The objective was to translate this massive cultural movement into a whimsical visual metaphor — merging the warmth of celebration with playful execution.
Exploration
The idea was to personify a travel suitcase as a boat sailing through the ocean, carrying all the Eid essentials: a joyful couple in traditional attire, ketupat, sweets, and cookies — all packed inside. The ocean journey represents the long and emotional travel many Indonesians experience during mudik, while the exaggerated and surreal approach keeps the tone lighthearted and relatable.

Executed entirely in Adobe Photoshop, the piece combines advanced photo compositing, perspective distortion, and manual lighting corrections. The suitcase was modeled to feel buoyant and full of life, while careful layering allowed dynamic interaction between the subjects and their "container." Color grading and environmental blending helped reinforce the storytelling with a sunrise vibe representing hope and reunion.
