🏃🏻♂️➡️ Indonesia Independence Day 2025
This artwork reimagines Indonesia’s independence spirit through a fresh narrative: what if the heroes of the past could meet today’s Gen Z?
Year :
2025
Industry :
Occasional Event
Client :
Poster
Project Duration :
Adobe Photoshop

Concept Overview
This design uses digital imaging to reframe Independence Day beyond typical poster formats. It visualizes a symbolic relay between a freedom fighter and a Gen Z youth, passing the Indonesian flag as the baton of independence.
Concept Exploration
The central idea: a generational relay.
The veteran represents the era of struggle — resilience, sacrifice, and the fight for sovereignty.
The Gen Z runner represents the future — dynamic, fast-moving, and full of energy.
Instead of a generic baton, the object being passed is the Indonesian flag — the truest symbol of legacy.
This passing moment symbolizes continuity: the freedom fought for in the past is not static, it must be carried forward.

Concept Execution
Setting
Red and white overlays on clouds, represent Indonesian Flag
The background is split:
Left side: colonial-era buildings under red vibe, symbolizing the struggle and blood of the past.
Right side: futuristic architecture under white vibe, symbolizing hope, clarity, and vision of the future.
Characters
The veteran is dressed in a uniform inspired by Indonesia’s independence-era fighters.
The Gen Z runner wears a modern running outfit (shorts, sneakers, hoodie). Both share a green top to visually link them across time.
The two figures are not standing side by side. They are mid-action, in a relay pose, as the veteran passes the flag-baton to the Gen Z runner.
Reflection
This project is not about dismissing traditional poster formats — those remain powerful and are often exactly what’s needed for brands, institutions, and official events.
But as a personal exercise, I wanted to challenge myself to design something that feels narrative, cinematic, and emotional. By blending eras through digital imaging, I’m exploring how visual storytelling can make Independence Day feel both historic and alive.
In the end, the poster asks:
If the fighters of the past could meet today’s youth, what would they entrust us with? And how will we carry it forward?
